THE AGRARIAN KITCHEN FARM AND COOKING SCHOOL - LACHLAN
The Agrarian Kitchen is a sustainable farm-based cooking school offering paddock-to-plate cooking experiences in a 19th century schoolhouse at Lachlan, 45 minutes from Hobart in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley. It was established in 2008 by Rodney Dunn and his wife Severine Demanet.
Set on five acres, The Agrarian Kitchen is a working farm and incorporates an extensive vegetable garden, orchard, berry patch and herb garden, all grown using organic principles. Also in residence are Berkshire pigs, Barnevelder chickens, milking goats, a flock of geese and honey bees. During their cooking experiences, guests harvest produce from the garden before returning to the kitchen to cook and eat.
The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery & Store is based on the same principles, using produce from the Agrarian Kitchen garden and surrounding gardens and farms. Open early 2017, it’s just five minutes away from the farm, at the Bronte Building in Willow Court in nearby New Norfolk. Friday to Monday for lunch, Friday and Saturday night for dinner.
