David and Ea are the duo behind the Yukon, a family owned and operated business for the last 20 years. They found her sunken just out of Copenhagen and bought the traditional Danish sailing ketch for a carton of beer. Locals quipped they paid too much. The following seven years were dedicated to restoring her. Following the rebuild, they sailed charter in Scandinavia, and in 2011 they completed an 18-month sea voyage out to Australia with their two young boys, professional crew and guests joining different legs of the voyage. Today they live in Franklin and offer calm river cruises on the Huon River (1.5 hours, twice daily in summer and once per day in winter). Overnight cruises to destinations like Bruny Island and Port Davey are generally run during the summer. With room for up to 28 guests by day and eight for overnight voyages, the Yukon has an easy-access gangway, spacious deck and cosy below- deck quarters. For a special gourmet cruise, corporate event or a family celebration, gather under sail aboard the Yukon. See page XX for Port Davey trips.
