Arrow Brick House is exquisitely positioned on the Tasman Peninsula, overlooking the iconic Three Capes Track, Port Arthur Bay and the Tasman Island lighthouse, on the traditional lands of the Pydarerme people. The cabin is just 90 minutes’ drive from Hobart, but you will feel a whole world away.
The whimsical, inviting timber cabin is the ideal place to unwind and explore the many attractions and walks the peninsula has to offer. The name of the cabin comes from the handmade convict bricks you’ll see behind the cozy wood-burning fireplace. The convicts at Port Arthur produced ‘arrow bricks’ from 1830 to 1877 at local brick-making sites, and the arrows and thumbprints from convicts long ago are visible in these bricks today. Enjoy a truly blissful soak in the indoor/outdoor bath as you take in the sumptuous outdoor area. Nestled amidst Tasmanian-made rock walls and rainforest ferns, the bath is the perfect place from which to watch the sunrise or sunset over the majestic Tasman National Park. Some of Tasmania’s most spectacular day walks are found in this area. Destinations such as Cape Hauy, Cape Raoul and Shipstern Bluff will keep your days busy, should you want to explore. Fortescue Bay, White Beach and Safety Cove offer stunning beach walks and summer swimming. Pennicott Cruises can take you whale watching beneath the soaring sea cliffs, which are Australia’s highest at 300 metres. The Port Arthur Historic site is a mere five-minute drive down the hill. Alternatively, just relax at the cabin with the blue wrens and abundant wildlife. Do some yoga on the deck, read a great book or play board games by the crackling fire. You can cook up a storm with farm-fresh Tasmanian produce in the well-equipped kitchen and savour it from a dinner table overlooking the ocean. After a day of adventuring (or relaxing), gather around the outdoor firepit to enjoy local Bangor wine and Bream Creek cheese and soak in the ever-changing colours of the mountains and bays. As darkness falls, the pademelons, wombats, quolls and the occasional devil venture outside, and on clear nights you will see millions of stars and the Tasman lighthouse. You may even be lucky enough to spot an aurora. The cabin is dog friendly, with a secure fence surrounding the house, where pooches can live their best holiday lives. Sleeping up to four people, Arrow Brick House offers a unique, picturesque and authentic country cabin experience in gorgeous surrounds. Book on Airbnb |
