Alesha and Cohen opened the doors of Bury Me Standing in Hobart back in 2012, and have moved all over town, until now – the doors to their new permanent
premises opened in July 2018 and they have no intention of leaving any time soon! To Alesha and Cohen this is a second home. They use family recipes and bake all of their bread, bagels and sweet treats on premises. Some of the favourite items on the menu, including the gingerbread bagels and beetroot bagels, are flavours created by Cohen. Vegan brownies and pecan pies are a couple more examples. Everything is vegetarian or vegan friendly. The pair set up the shop to feel cosy, as if you’re hanging out in their living room catching up with friends with a cup of coffee and a bagel. On Sundays you’ll find them in the midst of Hobart’s busy Farm Gate Market in Bathurst Street (right outside their front door). In fact, they try to use as much market produce as they can in their menu items. Alesha and Cohen both completed visual arts degrees prior to going into business in Hobart. Alesha designed all of the artwork for the business and plans to expand the range of Bury Me Standing enamelware lines and print work. Drop in and say hello to Alesha, Cohen and the kids. You’re most welcome. Located at :85 Bathurst Street, Hobart Open 7 days including Saturdays at Salamanca Market You can also find them on Facebook |
