National multi-award-winning Curringa Farm is owned by Tim and Jane Parsons, sixth-generation farmers at Hamilton in Central Tasmania, only one hour from Hobart.
Come stay in one of nine self-contained farmstay cottages privately spaced around the farm. They’re fully equipped, with spa, duo-shower or freestanding bath cabins for two to five people. Wood fires, electric blankets, TV and DVD player, gas barbecue and spacious viewing decks. Complete kitchens with modern furnishings make a home away from home. Perfect for families or small groups, or for those seeking a private, romantic place for a honeymoon. Included are generous farm-style breakfast provisions. You can also book in advance for evening meals. This 300-hectare family farm is three kilometres west of Hamilton, near Mount Field National Park and the terrific fishing locations of the Highland Lakes. Bring your fishing rods, boats and bikes! You’ll see some of the farm’s 3000 sheep, opium poppies used for medicine, cabbages, onions and cereals for seed production. For the keen photographer there are conservation forest areas and beautiful vistas. If you’re after the genuine experience, book a tour for an insight into the workings of a genuine Tasmanian farm – you’ll see sheep shearing and working dog demonstrations, and learn about the forest and crops.
