This all-gendered communal bathing space rolls out each weekend to gorgeous ocean shorelines, drawing on ancient sweat bathing traditions. It’s a mobile healing space designed for you to deeply relax and soak in the elemental properties of the wood-fired steamy atmosphere. This type of warmth travels all the way into your bone marrow, melting the burdens of modern life. Soak in the heat, then cast open the door and run across the sand for a dip in the cool, fresh ocean water that skirts the island of lutruwita / Tasmania. Then repeat the ritual.

Elsewhere Sauna offers 60-minute sessions, capped at five people per session. You may share with other guests or book all five seats for a private experience. The sauna can serve as a meeting place for transformative conversations, for celebrations, or for contemplating solitude. 

In this space, individuals are physically and metaphorically vulnerable, so in the spirit of connection, on uneven hours and during private bookings guests are encouraged to chatter, while even-hour sessions are reserved for quiet reflection. In this wonderful unique environment you’ll gain a new perspective on life. 

Elsewhere Sauna was born back in 2019, when a dilapidated 1950s box trailer in a lonely paddock sang out from Gumtree asking to be rescued. With a little imagination and creativity in play, the founders soon realised the trailer’s destiny – a wood-fired sauna on wheels. Hand-crafted tiles in a soft palate of pink, cream and gold surround the wood stove, and a whimsical, round rose-coloured window porthole frames the shifting coastal view. The decor is  complemented by forged Goth-metal door hinges (to keep away any bad juju), and a dolerite river rock greets your palm as the exterior door handle. 

To quench and re-mineralise your body, you can select from a cool melody of seasonally foraged and dried botanical teas on the drawbar deck, and seal the experience by treating yourself to an exfoliate scrub and face polish. Shed and let go. Your skin will thank you for the simple earthy luxury.
