farm gate to the plate cooking class - central hobart

Join us for a culinary experience utilising fresh local seasonal produce from Hobart’s own Farm Gate Market. Our morning begins with a market forage where we source all our fresh seasonal ingredients for our cooking class. There is no set menu, we decide depending what we find fresh on the day! There we will meet with local producers and learn about their wares whilst enjoying the ambience of the market. Produce in hand we return to the kitchen to learn how it can best be showcased with some delicious recipe’s from the “Modern Tasmanian” tradition. We then sit down to a 3 course shared table lunch to enjoy the morning’s creations, paired with wines from the Bottega Rotolo cellar. Tours run once a month or by appointment.

herbaceous tours

Do you want to enjoy a uniquely Tasmanian gourmet food and wine experience? Herbaceous Tours will take you to some amazing producers where you can 'meet the maker' of a wide variety of produce.
Our tours are very special, as they take you 'through' the farm gate and allow you to meet a diverse group of farmers, providores, and producers of a wide variety of Tasmanian food and wine product. Most of the facilities we will be visiting on Herbaceous Tours are working farms and producers who do not normally cater for tourists. This is what makes a tour with Herbaceous so different, so insightful and like nothing a visitor can do alone.
