Private, peaceful, luxurious and totally unique, Tamar Solarhome is just a ten minute stroll from an uncrowded beach. It is beautifully situated on a secluded bush-covered acre overlooking a nature reserve teeming with wildlife. The modern, state-of-the-art solar-powered house is naturally warm and cosy in winter and fresh and cool throughout summer. It’s the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life.
On the private veranda there's a huge two-person bath overlooking an unblemished vista of whispering sheoak and flowering tea tree, with the constantly soothing sound of the ocean in the background, plus half a dozen curious wallabies grazing on the front lawn each evening under the clearest night sky you're likely to see anywhere. There's also a wood-fired pizza oven, a romantic outdoor fire pit, and a large gas barbecue. Inside there's an emission-free ethanol fire for additional warmth and ambiance on cold winter nights, plus a large flat-screen TV, a library of more than 200 DVDs, over 100 books, and fast wireless internet. The large main bedroom has a king-size bed and French doors opening onto the veranda, while the second bedroom contains two comfy single beds. European-style hardwood-framed windows and doors are all triple-glazed and fully screened. And it's healthy, with a constant supply of fresh air provided by the passive ventilation system, and natural materials with non-toxic finishes throughout. Most importantly, the house's unique ultra-low-energy design combined with energy-efficient heat pumps powering a reverse-cycle air conditioner helps it maintain a comfortable internal temperature of between 20 and 26°C throughout the year. Greens Beach is one of Tasmania's best kept secrets – a small settlement at the mouth of the Tamar River at the northern end of the Tamar Valley. It's surrounded by some of Australia's most spectacular coastal walks and unspoilt secluded beaches and is only an hour's drive from Launceston airport. There's a sheltered swimming beach, a picturesque nine-hole golf course, public tennis courts, friendly locals, and access to a beautiful coastal trail through Narawntapu National Park, containing several even more secluded beaches. Tamar Solarhome is also the perfect base from which to explore northern Tasmania, with many internationally renowned vineyards within 30 minutes’ scenic drive. Barnbougle golf course is only two hours away. There are dozens of national park walking trails through some of the world's most pristine wilderness areas, so a few nights at Tamar Solarhome can be as relaxing or adventurous as you like! 24 Pars Road, Greens Beach tamarsolarhome.com 0438 449 638 [email protected] Bookings through Airbnb – listed as Tamar Solarhome Early check in and late checkout available with all bookings |
