The Cabin is set amongst winding vines and rolling hills that border the meandering Tamar River. It rests in the little farming community of Exeter, a scenic 20 kilometre drive north of Launceston, a perfect halfway stop on the way to the white sands of Greens Beach. You’ll find a warm welcome and a delicious mix of specialty coffee and seasonal brunch in a thoughtfully curated space showcasing the beauty and abundance offered by our wild little isle.
The Cabin mixes foraged, found and repurposed objects, with nature always at its core, plus a menu of fresh, seasonal local produce. The hero of brunch, the noble egg, is sourced from local free-range hens raised by kids at the Exeter Farm School. The final touch: organic locally grown edible flowers. As for the single origin coffee, it's roasted a stone's throw across the river. Coffee is a serious gig at The Cabin; quality and consistency matter most. The café serves up specialty blends by the legends at Villino roasters in Hobart. The team also gets creative with signature drinks such as the iced maple latte and iced strawberry matcha. Besides great coffee, delicious food and ambiance, this beautiful eatery’s ethos is one of community and environment. Everything is up-cycled or reclaimed, there's compostable cups, and coffee grounds buckets are offered up for compost each day with a ‘take me, return the bucket’ honesty system. Takeaway trays carved from used milk cartons and a milk keg system that saves yearly on thousands of bottled plastic landfill are part of the fold. Other honourable mentions include a back garden complete with mud kitchen and cubby for the little ones to roam, and a curated shop space selling a selection of beloved local ceramics, pantry items and books. The little cabin hosts a lot of love. Come for great coffee, stay for beautiful brunch and take in the rustic wilds of the Tamar along the way. 120 Main Road, Exeter cabincoffee.com.au (03) 6394 3506 Open weekdays 6.00am – 1.00pm, weekends 7.00am – 1.00pm |
